Day 14

I have finally done the border holly leaves on my table cloth. I am pleased with the results. I did some free motion in the large squares. I am not sure I like the squiggles. The material did not seem to move as easily as I wanted it to. Practise, practise.

I am really enjoying seeing everyone's practise and finished pieces. I have learned alot from seeing them all.

Today I worked on mini spruce trees. It was fun.

Day 11 and Day 12

I've been practising some new moves or stitches. Still need lots of practise. Also, different threads have meant having to change tension, needles, etc.

I tried some swirls and leaves in a row. The other picture is of my brother, who lives in Dauphin. He had no snow in his yard on Friday. He doesn't think the kids will have school tomorrow because of so many roads closed!

Day 8 & 9

I am glad I got all of the lawns thatched before all of this rain. Wonder how much snow we will get tonight?? I started on my tablecloth today but decided I needed to change the top color because my stitch in the ditch wasn't always that accurate. (Ripping is a good job to do when watching hockey playoffs.) I had a nice time in Stonewall at the quilting store (in between my daughter's hockey games). It sounds like the Morden show next weekend includes several stores.

Day 6 of the FMQ Challenge

Today I practised some "moves" for my 4 inch squares in my Christmas tablecloth. It is hard to stay inside and sew when it is finally nice outside! My first daffodil bloomed today!

Today I tried to stay within some lines. I don't know if you are supposed to travel around the outside edge or start and stop?

Today I worked on feathers, hearts,and holly leaves with berries.

Day 3

Today I tried hearts, daisy's and more feathers. I tried feathers on a circle. You want to turn the material as you sew, but I don't think you are supposed to. I want to try a holly leaf with three berries to use on my Christmas table cloth. I will look on the internet for ideas.

FMQ Challenge - Day 1

I have been busy this afternoon finishing projects so I can freemotion them. My daughter has made me start to clean up all of the material I have collected this past couple of years, so she can use the table for her scrapbooking. I found enough batting for my two quilts!! My sample free motion quilting today is trying a variety of designs. It is not very good, but will get better. I tried free motioning a stenciled design.
