Day 13 and 14

On the final two days, I practiced on Kids For Quilts quilts. The first is the fabric they sent me. I did free motion all over. I got curves and stars in!!! It was also the first time that I have zigzagged a binding. In the instructions, it said to quilt heavily for heavy use. I thought the machine sewing would be studier than hand stitches.

Quilts For Kids ask if you will send a second quilt also. It was made from a book panel that a friend gave me. She didn't remember how long she had had it...I had never seen it before....but is is so colorful and cute.  I did the pantograph on it. Not all curves and loops are smooth and I still have some problems when the machine bumps the side tensioner clamps.

Day 12

I practiced this pantograph because I think it has more quilting than the one I did yesterday. The curves look smoother...to me..LOL!!

Day 11

Trying out the pantograph I think I will use on theQuilts for Kids quilt... It may not be heavy enough on the quilting...they wrote they wanted heavy quilting as it will get lots of wear. I got the top pieced...it is a cute monkey print and bright pink. My curves are not very smooth.

Day 10: More stars( top pic)...the machine platform wanted to keep grabbing the side tensioners.
Added some stippling and practiced some of a pantogragh one of my friends gave me. I think I am going to use it on the Quilts For Kids quilt I am making.

FMQ Day 8 & 9

Day 8: More practice on hearts. I found that if you leave a pincushion on the machines' track...the machine does not like to roll!!

Most of the hearts are consistent. I tried feathers again...years of practice needed there.

Day 9: Stars are coming along....most of the time I remember where to go next!!!

Another day or two of practice and I may have it together!!

Making straight lines is difficult even with a pantogragh and laser light.

Day 6 and 7

Day 6: decided to practice more curves...I need them!!!  Even tried some feathers....not good.

I decided to try to loose loops...some were fairly even. I've seen them used on some quilts and it looked very nice.

Day 7: I decided to do more hearts...I think I will be able to use meandering hearts on some projects...most of the hearts looked OK ( at least to me....some of the work I've seen that others show is so good...I am embarrassed to show anything!!!!LOL!

Practiced more stars...I get tangled up on them...like where do I go next!!!

FMQ challenge Day 5

Day 5: I turned the page...I tried feathers first ( upper right). I received The Quilter Magazine yesterday. It has an article, Ruffle Your Feathers.  I have a lot of practice before I get started....time to get out a doodle pad. The leaf shape was easier for me, some of the inside sqiggleys are not too good.

Those "things" on the top row were AWFUL!!!! That's why we are practicing...LOL!!!

FMQ Challenge Day 3-4

Busy time here...watching the weather also. Thankfully all the thunderstorms have subsided and no tornadoes here.  Sun is shinning again.

Day 3:  Practiced more of the circle and leaf things ( 2 rows not in pic). I feel they
show improvement. The hearts looked sort of OK going in one direction, but going back across
they were bad news!!!

Day 4: More practice on hears, better, but still plenty of room for improvement.
The flowers  on the chain were pretty easy!!! I think I could use them in a border.

STILL on the first page of basics...maybe tomorrow I'll turn the
page!!!

My quilt guild is hosting a Day Of Sharing this spring. The theme is Recycle. Our challenge was to use scraps, etc. and make an item....I used selvedges, left over pieces of batting  and plastic canvas and made a catch all to hold scissors, bobbins, accessories, etc. on my midarm table. I think I made it a little too tall, but maybe it will hold more.

JayTee's Day 1 and Day 2

I did not get to post my day 1 pic yesterday, so I'm posting 1 and 2 today. Five weeks ago, I got my midarm...I love it!!! The only machine quilting that I had done on my regular machine was stippling. Feathers are what I hope to be able to do one day.

Day 1: I tried feathers first...AWFUL!!! I need to find some instructions!!
I was pleased with the hearts and stars , I might do one of those on the
next quilt for my 4 year old granddaughter.

Day 2: I got out his book that I had bought when I got my midarm.
I started on page 1.

I think I will still be doing page 1 tomorrow.
