I decided my practice pieces for the rest of the challenge are going to be place mat size. If I like them I have a cute little place mat, if I don't well no loss. Today I worked on filling the spine of a feather and the back ground fill of a feather. I'll try a different back ground fill and a different fill for the spine for the next few days. This also helps as I'm trying to get better at FMQ with larger designs.
So many beautiful things that everyone is sharing, very inspiring!!

What a great idea to use place mat sized pieces! I just love the green you chose and your design is absolutely lovely! What type of batting did you choose? It raises up so nicely!
it's just warm and natural batting. I didn't pin or spray baste the pieces so that may be contributing to the it as well.
Lovely quilting. I agree with Mary Ann that it is such a very good idea to use place mat sized pieces.
It is beautiful, and I really like this size idea, too! I like your idea of trying out different fills, as well. Can't wait to see more!
